What is show & tell?

s&t is an informal business support group for freelancers, small business owners and entrepreneurs. It provides a platform for you to share your business ideas or concerns in a supportive, non-judgemental environment and receive feedback and suggestions on them.

How does show & tell work?

Each meeting usually runs for two or three hours (with a break), in which attendees takes turns on the floor. It’s up to you what you do with your turn, but most people show what they’ve done since the last meeting and tell what they want to do for next time.

Do I have to turn up to every meeting? And how much does it cost?

Attendance is free of charge, and you are not obliged to turn up to every meeting. Having said that, most of the benefits of s&t come through reasonably regular attendance.

Who is show & tell most suitable for?

A wide range of different businesses and professions are represented in the group – photographers, management trainers and mentors, actors, furniture makers, designers, property owners and even a dentist.

Most members tend to be either recent graduates or people moving on from the corporate world. Show & tell can often be an invaluable tool in helping you set up a new business.

What are the benefits?

Anyone who comes to s&t can benefit from it, as long as they are willing to listen and give to others as well as pursue their own goals. Often the benefits that you can receive won’t be obvious in the first instance - as with any form of mentoring, coaching or networking, it takes time to develop. Each person responds differently, depending on their individual needs.

You may want advice on developing a specific area of your business; you may want help with setting up a new business; or you may simply be looking for acknowledgement or structure.

More immediate benefits include networking and socialising with people in different industries but similar positions to your own.
